Cookie wands

How cool are these cookie wands? I plan on dipping mine in melted chocolate and then 100's & 1000's but you could do anything!

 

Ingredients:

• 1 cup caster sugar
• 125g butter, melted
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup plain flour
• 1 cup self-raising flour
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• 20 icypole sticks

Method:

Line two baking trays with baking paper.
Place sugar in a large bowl, melt butter and pour over sugar.
Stir well and add remaining ingredients. Stir to combine.
Lightly flour a surface and roll the dough out to 8-10mm thick.
Cut out shapes. Use a metal slide/spatula to carefully lift onto prepared trays.
Repeat rolling, cutting and lifting until all dough is used.
Place 5cm apart on trays (I had them too close, see picture) to allow for spreading.
Carefully push an icypole stick into each biscuit.
Bake 15 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from oven, cool slightly before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Not Disney Frozen Party

Got any Frozen fans in your house? Do you want a Frozen party without all of the Disney Products every where?  Have a look at a few of these ideas.

 

Frozen Cherries dipped in white chocolate with silver balls mmm (also very Christmassy if anyone needs something further on the big day!)

 

Snow Slime Recipe

• 2 cups of white school glue
• 1 & 1/2 cups of very warm water
• Iridescent glitter
• Optional: a few drops of peppermint extract to give the snow slime a fresh and clean scent

 Combine in a small bowl

 In a second bowl combine

• 3/4 teaspoons of borax
• 1 & 1/3 cups very warm water

Mix the ingredients of both bowls well and then combine both bowls.  Mix the ingredients with your hands for a few minutes.  As the ingredients are mixed the snow slime will form.

Cinnamon Christmas Deco's

Do you love the idea of your house having that Christmas smell?? These are fab, I'm going to try a batch and if they work then I'm going to make them for the girls teachers and a few other friends! I love the idea of my house smelling so Christmassy!

 

 

 

Ingredients

• 1 cup applesauce
• 1-1 1/4 cup (130 grams) ground cinnamon
• 1 tablespoon ground cloves (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the applesauce, cinnamon, and cloves (if using). It may take a few minutes for the mixture to come together. You want the dough to be able to form a ball without being too sticky. Add additional applesauce or cinnamon if needed. You can mix the dough by hand, it may just take longer.
3. Sprinkle a clean surface with cinnamon (like you would with flour while rolling out pie dough). Place the dough on the surface and sprinkle with more cinnamon. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough to 1/4 inch thick, sprinkling with more cinnamon to keep from sticking.
4. Cut out into desired shapes and place on the prepared sheet pan so that they aren't touching. Use a skewer to poke a hole into each ornament (to attach string). Bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until rock hard.
5. Loop a decorative string through the ornament and hang on your tree.

Notes: Ornaments may also be dried at room temperature over several days.

Ornaments are not extremely fragile, but they can break. Handle with care.

Do not eat.

Ice-cream party

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice-cream mmmm. Would you have an ice-cream party? I couldn't mainly because I cant keep it in the house without devouring the lot so there would be nothing left for the party! But it's a great party idea or even baby shower idea!

Grow your own Candy Cane

 

My Kids are still little so this would thrilled them, though it may mean that I will forever be watering pots full of sweets in hope that all sweets grow!! he he

Strawberry Mint Mojitos mmmmm

Its starting to warm up here in sunny Perth and these look just the thing to enjoy with some friends on a summers evening.

 

To make the strawberry mint mojitos you will need:

 

-Fresh Strawberries, large punnet

-Mint leaves

-Soda water

-Rum

-Limes

-Sugar or truvia

First gentle squash the strawberries with the sugar then add to your pitcher. (if you have a pestle and mortar this works a treat!)
Next, slice limes and trim your mint leaves. Squash or gentle bash the mint leaves with lime juice.
Add to pitcher. (You will want to make extra batch so you can easily just add to pitcher when you run out.)
To finish, add 1 cup of rum, 3 cups of soda water and ice. Taste it to make sure it tastes okay. You may need to add more soda, rum or lime juice depending on your taste.
Garnish the glasses with mint leaves and sliced strawberries and then stuck them in the freezer for 15 minutes to get a frosty glass.
